Dymaxion VS Aptera
In the 1930s Buckminster Fuller invented the Dymaxion vehicle. The intention was to create a vehicle that would eventually be capable of being used as a land air and water craft. This vehicle, which was fully functional on land, I believe held 11 passengers and was capable of traveling over 100 miles an hour. Due to an unfortunate set of events this vehicle never went into full scale production. The whole story is worth looking into as is the life of Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller.
As we approach 2023 there is a company called Aptera that has created a similar vehicle with more modest aspirations. They are using solar and AI design to create an ultra high efficiency vehicle (currently classified as a motorcycle).
This is what I call Wing Chun design! Three points of contact, efficient use of energy and light weight. They even thought of boondocking!
Nothing Is Impossible
Such a statement is both a matter of fact and popular hyperbole. Sort of like a floor wax and a desert topping. Also reminds me of the “truth vs reality” conundrum.
As Physics Today dot org states: “Much of the ado about nothing turns out to have been merely verbal, arising from an understandable but faulty assumption that space empty of stuff—that is, the perceptible absence of matter in the familiar sense—is nothing. Contemporary physics tells us that nothing could be further from the truth.”
However. Remove the dualistic thought approach and there is an infinity of middle ground to be explored. Extreme athletes and above average intellectuals set a field that is rarely achieved by the mass majority. The implication of “impossible” is understood and our vernacular suits the ego of the status quo.
But much of what we perceive as “impossible” is more possible than our brains and emotion will permit. So sure – nothing does not exist… and nothing is impossible.
So when we are confronted with what seems to be impossible just remember. It ain’t no thang.Wing Chun!
Dinosaur Rock Climbing
DinosaurRock is a beautiful climbing gem nestled at the gateway of Carson City Nevada. This is currently the area where I’m training Wing Chun and also rock climbing. If you’re interested in climbing or Wing Chun kung fu drop me a line and arrange for a session of fun and adventure.
FYI – I’m a NOLS graduate and have worked as a climbing guide over the years. Although I have done more free solo climbing than trad or sport, I’m putting more time into rope and gear use. Come on out and climb! If you’ve never climbed before I’ll be happy to teach you the fundamentals. CLIMBING!!!
